Rocky Hill Merchant To Light It Up With Iron Maidens
ROCKY HILL, Conn. – When it comes to lighting up, nobody does it better than cigar shop merchant, Joe Petruzzi. But when lighting up involves the Iron Maidens and their motorcycles, watch out! Hearts will ignite with passion for the fight against MS.
| Iron Maidens and Band of Brothers MS Motorcycle Ride teammates Mark Petruzzi, a resident of West Hartford; Karen Butler, team captain and resident of Manchester; Sue Petruzzi, co-captain and West Hartford resident; and Joe Cigar Shop merchant Joe Petruzzi take a moment to pose at the grand re-opening of the shop in late July. |
On Saturday, Aug. 29, the Iron Maidens MS Motorcycle Ride team and Petruzzi, owner and operator of Joe’s Cigar Shop and Smoking Lounge, will saddle up to host the first ever Iron Maidens Smoke Out, featuring a down home cookout by Petruzzi.
“Joe’s Cigar Shop is community-minded,” said Petruzzi. “We are delighted to partner with the Iron Maidens to support the fight against multiple sclerosis.”
Petruzzi has been in the brick and mortar cigar shop business for more than seven years. Joe’s Cigar Shop caters to both the casual smoker and cigar aficionado. The smoking lounge offers a big screen plasma television. Joe’s Cigar Shop has one of the largest walk-in humidors, stocked with premium cigars, in the state. Joe’s carries more than 300 facings of cigars, hailing from more than 11 countries, including Brazil, Cameroon, Indonesia, Mexico and Honduras.
The Iron Maidens & Band of Brothers MS Motorcycle Ride team, which was established in 2007, raises funds each year to benefit the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter and its annual MS Motorcycle Ride. The team raised $3,500 in 2007, $8,500 in 2008 and hopes to raise $10,000 in 2009.
“To date the team has raised about $9,000 toward its $10,000 goal,” said Karen Butler, team captain. “Times are tough but people have been generous. Although there has been a downturn in the economy the needs of people in our state living with MS have never been greater. It’s more important than ever that we continue to raise funds that can help keep lives moving forward.”
The Aug. 29 Iron Maidens Smoke Out will begin at noon and features a cookout, free cigar samplings, a 50/50 drawing and a second drawing for prizes, including fine cigars. Part of the proceeds from sales Aug. 29 will benefit the Iron Maidens MS Motorcycle Ride team and the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter.
Joe’s Cigar Shop is located at 781 Cromwell Ave., in Rocky Hill. For more information on services, please visit www.joescigarshop-ct.com. For more information on the first ever Iron Maidens Smoke Out, please contact Joe Petruzzi at 860-257-8504.
