A former resident of Greenwich and currently a resident of Bedford, N.Y., Carey received her Bachelor of Science degree in design from the University of Cincinnati, located in Ohio. She joined EventWorks, a strategic planning, marketing and event management agency located in Pelham, N.Y., in 2009. She received the Chapter President award from the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter 10 years ago. Carey served as a member of the chapter’s board of trustees from 2004 to 2007.

“Former Connecticut Chapter president Gino Partenza inspired me to become involved with the National MS Society,” said Carey. “I witnessed the devastating effects MS can have on a family when a friend was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was just in her mid-twenties. I am hopeful that with increased funding for research we will have better treatments and ultimately a cure.”

Established by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Connecticut Chapter, which has offices in Norwalk and Hartford, in 2000, MS Corporate Achievers is a recognition program honoring some of Connecticut’s most influential leaders while at the same time raising critically needed funds to ensure ongoing scientific research and provide for the continuation of vital programs and services offered by the chapter to the more than 6,000 Connecticut residents diagnosed with MS. Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected by an advisory council for outstanding contributions to business, civic and cultural enrichment. Through participation, honorees join an elite leadership network sharing a commitment to making Connecticut a better place in which to live. Since 2000, honorees have raised more than $600,000 to help end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.

Carey is a longtime supporter of the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter and other civic and nonprofit organizations. For more than 15 years, she has been a member of the MS Dinner of Champions planning committee, heading up the silent and live auctions. Carey has also been actively involved in the chapter’s Bike MS event and the Walk MS event, which raises more than $1 million each year.

“In her former role as board member and also in her current role as a member of the MS Dinner of Champions committee, Judy has accomplished much to advance the society’s mission to move research forward toward a cure,” said Lisa Gerrol, Connecticut Chapter president. “She is committed to raising awareness and funds in the fight against MS and devoted to ensuring quality of life for people with multiple sclerosis and other disabilities.”
