On behalf of the Long Island Chapter, we would like to thank you for your interest in joining our volunteer program. At the heart of so many events and programs, are the volunteers whose dedication, professionalism and attention to detail have helped us achieve great success.
Whether looking to volunteer one time or on an on-going basis, there are a variety of opportunities that we can match to your skills, interests and availability. The committment and dedication of thousands of volunteers, like you, make a tremendous difference in the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis.
Administrative Support
Our events and programs take planning. Join the behind the scenes crew at the office and help with event prep, data entry, phone calls or various administrative tasks.
Community Partners - MS Service Day
Our chapter routinely has a table at various health fairs and exhibits. Volunteer to help pass out flyers, answer basic questions and share what you know about MS with others. Lunch and a lively chat are often included.
Educational and Social Events
Support your community by volunteering at a social or educational event for people with MS. Serve a holiday meal, organize the raffle, facilitate a game, create centerpieces or check members in as they arrive. It only takes a few hours in a fun and relaxed environment.
Internships
Enrich your education by interning in our development, communications, or programs and services departments.
Everyone can make a difference
Join a Committee
Are you passionate about something we do and full of ideas to offer our staff? Join the movement by joining a committee, and help guide the future of our programs, services and events. Committee opportunities include:
- Walk, Bike, Spring Into Awareness Luncheon, MS Golf Classic Committees
- Chapter Programs Committee
- Clinical Advisory Committee
- Government Relations Committee
- Research Committee
Marketing Outreach
Connect the dots in your community by identifying communication opportunities and distributing marketing materials. Be our local presence and keep multiple sclerosis on everyone's minds.
Programs Ambassador
This ongoing opportunity is perfect for brushing up on your public speaking skills. You can represent the MS Society in the community, at health fairs, and at fundraising events to provide information about MS and Chapter activities. Stand out in the crowd and spread the word about multiple sclerosis.
Self-Help & Support Groups
People with MS, their families, friends and caregivers often need to get together in person to discuss concerns and experiences in an informal setting. Self-help group leaders plan and facilitate the meetings.
Volunteer At An Event
We’ve never been closer to a cure for MS. That’s why now it’s more important than ever to support our fundraising events. Join the Movement and have a great time, too.
Volunteer Teams
We have many opportunities for groups to form a volunteer team. This is a great way to spend time together helping a great cause.
