The National MS Society’s Volunteer Hall of Fame honors outstanding volunteers and their ongoing commitment to a world free of multiple sclerosis. Inductees have gone above and beyond to help people living with MS and their families.
Sharon Looney from Spokane, WA was inducted into the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s National Volunteer Hall of Fame, along with over 28 other volunteer s from across the country.
Diagnosed with MS in 1989, Sharon immediately contacted the Inland Northwest chapter about being a volunteer. In the past 20 years, she has been an active volunteer, talking to others about MS and raising funds to find a cure. She has served on the Board of Directors, as a Peer counselor, Self Help Group Volunteer Coordinator, Gateway to Wellness Trainer, Chapter Program Committee, WALKMS Team Captain, and in many other ways. With her winning smile and big heart she has helped everyone understand MS better, but more importantly is the emotional support that she gives.
“So we can continue to fuel a movement by and for people with MS we must mobilize the talent and resources of the millions of people who want to do something about MS now,” said Joyce Nelson, president & CEO of the National MS Society. “Our volunteer hall of fame inductees represent this vision and we are extraordinarily thankful for their time and commitment.”
