Safety Volunteer- Volunteers are placed at railroad crossings or challenging areas of the route to provide an additional safety component for the cyclists to keep the event safe and incident free. Includes: railroad crossing guards, route marshalls, route markers, and also bike check.
Meal Volunteer: Provide cyclists a relaxing environment to enjoy a meal.
Ambassadors - Hand out information and answer any questions on the National MS Society and the services, programs, events, and opportunities available.
Finish Line Volunteer -Ensure that riders feel a strong emotional impact as they cross the finish line, so that they will feel their efforts have been worth while. To ensure that the property we are using is attractive, decorated, and well maintained during the event and left in good order when the event is completed.
HAM Radio Operator Volunteer - Provide transportation and communications support with an on- route medical professional for cyclists in distress due to injury, bike failure or exhaustion.
In Kind Needs Researcher Volunteer - Research and contact potential in-kind donors for items needed at Bike MS.
Medical Volunteer – At Boone County Fairgrounds, a rest stop or on the route- Provide medical attention to any of 3,000+ cyclists or 700 volunteers should they become injured or exhausted.
Motorcycle Support Volunteer - Motorcycle Support keeps the Bike MS Ride moving smoothly, lawfully and safely.
Photographer Volunteer - Take pictures of cyclists, teams, participants and volunteers at the event.
Refreshment Volunteer - Provide light refreshments for participants and volunteers at the Midway Expo Center.
Rest Stop Captain - Oversee operations of one of the rest stop sites along the routes.
Rest Stop Volunteer - Rest Stop Volunteers are play a vital role to the riders on their jouney. There are a variety of tasks for rest stop volunteers. Oversee the cleanliness of the rest stop site by making sure the property is well maintained during and after the rest stop is open. Provide refreshments and encouragement to cyclists at one of the rest stop sites along the bike route. Provide refreshments and encouragement to cyclists at one of the rest stop sites along the bike route. Greet cyclists as they enter rest stops and direct them to appropriate areas. Prepare drinks and help hydrate cyclists along the way. Help provide a safe rest stop for cyclists, volunteers and the general public.
Route Marker Volunteer- Route markers are assigned the tasks of placing directional arrows along the entire route. Route marker volunteers are also instructed to check for unsafe conditions along the walk route and report anything of potential interest to Randy via his cell phone.
SAG Driver Volunteer - Provide support and transportation to cyclists in distress due to injury, bike failure or exhaustion. (Vans are provided. Volunteers staff the vehicles).
Labor Volunteer- Help set-up/dismantle Bike MS sites.Volunteers will also assist in the loading/unloading of supplies into truck. Duties might include moving tables and chairs. Lifting and moving heavy boxes. Picking up and emptying trash or recycle containers. Carrying materials to team tents. Helping to set up dining areas.
Truck Driver Volunteer - Provide truck support (including loading and unloading of material/supplies) for route rest stops, lunch, and Bike MS Village.
Welcome Tent Volunteer- Ensure that Bike MS Ride volunteers are properly checked in and provided correct information about the volunteering at the event. Includes: regsitration, volunteer check-in, garage sale, greeters, 2012 registration, and information table.

Please note that volunteers between the ages of 12 and 17 will need to have a parent or guardian complete a waiver.
