Wanted: MS “Grass Tops”!

Grass TopsA “grass top” volunteer is a person who has a promising to significant level of connection to one or more prominent figures and can leverage these connections to advance our priorities to help people with multiple sclerosis. In our work to find advocacy solutions for issues confronting people with MS, the National MS Society builds and maintains relationships with top community leaders, elected officials, and decision makers who can help us efficiently achieve our goals at the highest point of contact. It is critical to recognize that the public policy arena is constantly evolving in regard to political leaders and policy issues.

Volunteers can help us build a “grass top” relationship with prominent figures and can leverage these connections to advance MS priorities. That relationship must be all of the following:

  • A close, personal connection with a local official; a state or federal legislator or official; an individual serving at a key government agency; or an influential staff person for any of the above figures.
  • A promising to significant connection that already is or has a realistic opportunity to become significant. They might be family, friends, neighbors, professional colleagues, or political contacts.
  • A relationship that you can leverage on behalf of the MS Society, and/or facilitate an introduction with MS Society staff.

If you are a MS “grass top” individual willing to leverage your connections, please click this link, Contact Us, to provide us with your contact information.
