The National Multiple Sclerosis Society depends on the commitment of volunteers at every level of the organization. As one of the nation’s best volunteer-led health agencies, the Society embraces, values and recognizes the work of our volunteers. We can’t fulfill the promise of our mission without you.
Women, men and children of all ages and backgrounds participate in our events, lend their professional talents to special projects and office work, lobby elected officials and even provide leadership as members of the board of trustees.
The chapter welcomes the diversity that volunteers bring to our vision of creating a world free of MS. As an organization, we are committed to providing growth and development for those who choose to contribute their time and resources as a volunteer. Sign up to volunteer today!
In addition to the possibilities above, you can also take the initiative to organize and host your own fundraiser to benefit the chapter.
Here are some questions to consider when volunteering:
Availability:
- What is the time commitment involved with this opportunity, and does that timeframe fit within your schedule?
Interests, Strengths and Skills:
-
What are your strengths and what do you enjoy doing? Do you prefer to work individually or as part of a team? Are you comfortable talking to people, doing clerical work, doing work online, or would you prefer more manual tasks?
- What skills, professional experience or training would you like to share? (examples include administrative, fundraising, recruiting, graphic design, law, first aid, adaptive exercise, public relations)
Location:
- Where are you available to volunteer? Some volunteers work out of our Philadelphia office during business hours. Others volunteer from home. Depending on the position, you may also be able to volunteer in your community at an event, speak as a community representative, facilitate a support group, be a local advocate or coordinate a local fundraiser.
Training:
- Are you available and willing to volunteer in a role that requires training? Some roles require online or in-person training or shadowing of a staff person or volunteer.
